Eyjafjallajokull ugnikalnio išsiveržimas 2010-05-05 , lankytojų centro informacija - DSC01470

            2009 m. pabaigoje ugnikalnio apylinkėse pasireiškė seisminis aktyvumas. Pirmasis išsiveržimas prasidėjo 2010 m. kovo 20 d. Vėliau sekė trumpa pertrauka. Balandžio 14 d. išsiveržimas buvo sprogstamojo pobūdžio, dideli kiekiai ištirpusio ledyno vandens upėmis pasileido link vandenyno, ~800 žmonių evakuota. Išsiveržęs Ejafjadlajokudlis į atmosferą paskleidė didelį vulkaninių pelenų debesį, dėl kurio nuo balandžio 15 d. iki 20 d. didžiojoje dalyje Europos uždaryta oro erdvė, nutraukti lėktuvų skrydžiai. Dėl Ejafjadlajokudlio aktyvumo skrydžiai kai kuriose Europos valstybėse buvo trumpam nutraukti ir 2010 m. gegužę.
