Synthetic Mineral Attempt: Cuprorivaite 2.5 (Salt as flux)

Latest attempt at creating an ancient pigment made by the Egyptians called "Egyptian Blue" also found in nature as the rare mineral, cuprorivaite (CaCuSi4O10). About 0.5mL of the EB&G based formula with the addition of a small amount of NaCl to act as a flux was heated in a small (12.5mm wide) test tube.

The test tube was heated with a butane/propane burner for over 90 minutes. The bottom of the test tube melted a bit and upon cooling was a deep translucent blue. On the inside of the test tube appear to be many tiny cuprorivaite crystals fused to the glass.
