The Wave (Quintessential) - a photo on Flickriver

"The Wave" of Coyote Buttes, so well known to so many at this point...but nonetheless....my version of this iconic location. An unearthly landscape, the likes of which are not to be found anywhere else on this planet. These spectacular landforms are actually petrified sand dunes which have been sculpted by wind, water and rain and richly colored by the iron oxides and other minerals so ubiquitous throughout the southwest. Scanned from Fuji Velvia / enhancement by Mother Nature. Vermillion Cliffs National Monument on the Arizona/Utah border.
