White-eared Catbird - a photo on Flickriver

The white-eared catbird (Ailuroedus buccoides) is a medium-sized passerine found in the tropical and sub-tropical dry forests of Papua (Indonesia), Papua New Guinea and some nearby islands.
The to 25 cm long bird is on top green colored, and the chest and abdomen are pale yellow-brown with black spots. The cheeks are white and the cap is black or dark brown.
Adult catbirds subsist primarily on fruit, but will take the nestlings of other species on rare occasions; chicks are mostly fed insects.
The white-eared catbird is a very vocal bird, with a loud, hissing call.

De witoorkatvogel (Ailuroedus buccoides) is een middelgrote zangvogel uit de familie van de prieelvogels (Ptilonorhynchidae).
Het is een endemische vogelsoort uit het laagland van (West-) Papoea en Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea en eilanden daar in de buurt.
Het leefgebied bestaat uit dichtbegroeide regenwouden.
De vogel is 25 cm lang, van boven groen gekleurd en bleek geelbruin met zwarte stippen op de borst en buik. De wangen zijn wit en de kopkap is zwart of donkerbruin. Het is een zeer schuwe, maar luidruchtige vogel die vooral aan het geluid kan worden herkend. Witoorkatvogels voeden zich met vruchten en kleine diertjes. Van de vogel is bekend dat hij in netten gevangen kleine vogels doodt en opeet. Jonge vogels worden met insecten gevoed.
