            Had a great trip, but glad to be home. We always start out our trip to Colorado at this overlook. It is located on CO 149 between Creede and Lake City. On a good aspen year it is an incredible view. The pointed mountain in the distance Rio Grande Pyramid. You can also see the Rio Grande Reservoir. The headwaters of the Rio Grande is located near Stony Pass in the San Juan Mountains.

I have driven over Stony Pass, but as scenic views go, it isn't great until you reach the top on the Silverton side. It is one rocky road on the Creede side, that makes you think you have been kidney punched for 20 rounds.

It wasn't a  great year for golden aspens, but still a very nice year. If you ever need help finding places in the San Juan Mountains, I would be happy to try and help out. It is my favorite mountains, and I think they are the most beautiful mountains in America.
