Mr. Chips

            Chippy was part of our family for 12 years and died just before our youngest left for university. The house was so quiet we wanted to fill the void with another dog. We searched the rescue centres for a pug puppy but there weren't any except for a 3 year old puggle (pug/beagle cross) 5 hours away. We had heard of a new litter of pugs only a 1/2 hour away so we set off one Saturday morning to see the puppies. There, a little female stole my heart and I held her, but set her down again. We decided to drive the 5 hours to the Animal Rescue to check out the 3 year old and as soon as we saw Tessa the puggle our hearts melted. She was barking up a storm with the other adult dogs who all hadn't been adopted. Tessa had had a litter as well and all her puppies were spoken for except for her. Needless to say, Tessa the puggle drove the 5 hours back home with us, vocalizing the whole way. My favourite memory of that day, other than the way Tessa took immediately to my husband (her previous owner had been a young guy who left her and said he was coming back, but didn't) was when we stopped at Tim Horton's for our order and asked for a Timbit for our dog. Tessa proceeded to bury it in the parking lot. She's approximately 9 years old now.
