Leopard, Tree, Cub

            After many days of tracking the elusive leopard we were given the ultimate sighting. We were fortunate enough to see a trio of leopards, mother cub and the nomadic male father (Blue Eyes). Such a sighting is extremely rare as male leopards cover wide distances within their territory and rarely share time with females and offspring (other than mating). After an hour observing the three of them, the male continued his nomadic ways, leaving mother and baby to continue to bond. Play time up high in the trees, on the ground and on low lying logs and branches. Eventually play time ended with a stern growl from mother and the cub was hidden in the thicket. Mother's attention then turned to providing and over the next 3 hours we followed the mother on the hunt (see my other photos), stalking impala and even trying her luck with birds.
