Fit the Bill

            Two female White-tailed Black Cockatoos drink at my garden bird bath. At first glance they appear identical, but on closer inspection, the difference in length of the upper mandible is apparent, a giveaway that each are different species. The bird on the left is a Baudin's Cockatoo, with a longer and narrower culmen, and the bird on the right is a Carnaby's Cockatoo which has a shorter upper bill and overall broader and more robust beak.
