Pale Blue Sparrow False Pimpernel. Lindernia antipoda, Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia

            No, don't ask. I really haven't yet discovered why this pretty little Lindernia antipoda is called Sparrow False Pimpernel in English. 
The Latinised name 'Lindernia' was given to what Carolus Linnaeus called 'Ruellia' by Carlo Allioni (1728-1804) of Turin, Italy. He greatly admired Franz Balthasar von Lindern (1682-1755), German physician and botanist. I don't know either why Allioni decided to abandon 'Ruellia', a name derived from the name of a fine French scholar-turned-priest, Jean de La Ruelle (1474-1537), who had translated into Latin the famous work on medicinal plants by the Greek physician and pharmacologist Dioscorides (ca.40-90 CE). But I do know that Arthur Hugh Garfit Alston (1902-1958) in 1931 first fully described our 'Antipoda', publishing it in a flora of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
I'd intended to post a macro-shot of Torenia polygonoides today, but after a lot of attempts over the last couple of weeks still haven't been successful in producing anything worth much attention...
But I hope this Pale Blue Delight redeems me. I saw it in a patch of sun-dappled 'lawn' at the entrance of the Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang at Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.
