- The photographer's viewpoint is looking north-north east from a hillside aspect near the Illawarra Line railway cutting, across the second version of the "Como Hotel" & the Georges River towards the suburb of Oatley in the far distance.
- The narrow stone-built causeway bisecting the shallow Double Bay muds flats is recently built (it is not visible in the earlier circa 1892 image).
