Kakamega house 1964

            This is one of the houses we lived in in Kenya. There was no electricity and my dad would prime "hurricane " lamps every night. The stove burnt wood and we had a fridge which ran on paraffin. The hot water came from a Boiler which also burn't wood.  It was a lovely place. The only remnant of equatorial  rain forest in Kenya is around this area and the bird life and butterflies were fantastic . My dad once bought half a sheep and I remember sitting n the veranda with my sister cutting it up and slicing off all the sinews...
