MANACA' da SERRA / Patchwork Quilt / Tibouchina pulcra

            As fores de algumas especies de Tibouchina mudam de cor quando se abrem, indo do branco para o rosa e finalmente para o lilas, de modo que flores rosas, branca e lilases, ou flores de ontem , hoje e amanha podem ser vistas numa mesma arvore. A principal dessas arvores que trocam de cor e' o manaca' da serra, que começa a florir na primavera, quando parece um enorme buque multicolorido!
E' nativa dos arredores de Sao paulo, e cobre os morros de ambos os lados da Vias Anchieta e Imigrantes entre Sao Paulo e Santos.

The flowers from species of Tibouchina change color after they open from white to rosy pink and lilac, or yesterday, today and tomorrow ! flowers are seen in a single tree. Chief of these color-changers is the patcwork quilt tree which begins to bloom in spring when it looks like an enormous multicolored nosegay. It is native to the environs of the city of Sao Paulo and covers the hills on both sides of the Anchieta and Imigrantes higways between Sao paulo and Santos...80 KM !!!!!
