Like all deserts, the Gobi has many illusions. The most common one is that it looks like the desert people see in pictures and textbooks. That is just a scratch on the surface. While it is an unforgiving desert, it is home to several nomads and species of plants and animals. The Mongolian wild horses is found all over the Gobi. While most of them have been 'tamed' by the nomad families, they mostly live a good life roaming around free most of the day. This was taken early in the morning as they were being let out the run and graze. Check out the whole set - Mesmerizing Mongolia. #267 on Explore.
