Alexandria, LA Alexandria Mall - a photo on Flickriver

            The Alexandria Mall opened in 1973 with J.C. Penney, Sears, Beall-Ladymon, Weiss & Goldring, Green's and Wellan's. An expansion, completed in 1986, added the department stores Dillard's and Mervyn's. Wellan's closed and was replaced by Stein Mart. Beall-Ladymon was acquired and renamed State in 1994. Stein Mart closed in 2006, followed soon by Mervyn's. In 2007, Burlington Coat Factory opened in the old Mervyn's location, and Weiss & Goldring relocated outside the mall into into the old JC Penney auto repair building.  Bed Bath & Beyond moved into the old Weiss & Goldring space in 2008.
