(1997-2016) Josefina's Christmas Dress & Mantilla

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I still remember when Josefina first debuted in catalogues back in 1997.  At the time of her release, American Girl had only put out her school, bedtime, and Christmas collections.  It was her Christmas collection that really caught my eye.  Of all my American Girl holiday outfits, I can say confidentially that Josefina's is my favorite.  I think this ensemble does wonders for her.  Plus, I always thought the mantilla was really unique, and looked very festive.  Okay, I'll admit part of my attraction to Josefina's Christmas collection in the first place was actually due to her chicken, but I did genuinely love this outfit.  It also helps that her book "Josefina's Surprise" was probably my personal favorite from her series!  I also think it's super cute that her Niña doll wears an identical outfit.  My very first Christmas Dress was from eBay--I bought it back in 2012, in a lot with her Heirloom Accessories shawl and her Niña doll (I really wanted that doll).  Sadly, it didn't have the socks or pantalettes that were originally sold with it.  The mantilla was also in mildly rough condition (it was kind of picked at).  I also realized ten years later that the shoes I thought were original, turned out to be Girl of Today! I vowed to myself that I would eventually buy the entire outfit directly from American Girl when it went on sale.  In 2016, I finally got my chance to purchase it, and right before it was discontinued.  I was actually chasing after Samantha's Holiday Set (which I thought might be retiring too), when I glanced in the sale section and saw that this ensemble was really cheap! Naturally I snagged it whilst I had the opportunity. I really love how much more vibrant it is than my old outfit (see my comparison photos for reference).  Now two of my dollies can wear Christmas dresses on display!!!
