            Hi! I am Weslei and this is my mother...
Happy Mother's Day!

Weslei lives with his mother, step-father, two brothers, three sisters and other family members in a simple brick house on the outskirts of the coastal town of Itanhaém, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Weslei's mother, Dna Tereza, works with recycling anything and everything to make her living to support her family.  Unfortunately such demanding work often affects the home environment in a rather negative manner, because much of the recycling is done at home and consequently the house is overcome with all sorts of junk awaiting recycling, both outside and inside, besides the pigs being raised in the backyard and all the piglets, dogs, cats and chickens roaming around the place.

Weslei is a humble kid, who before entering our coexistence project spent most of his time wandering the neighborhood due to the home environment not exactly being an inviting one. Today he enjoys surfing and skateboarding during weekends with the other kids in our project, also training capoeira during the week in lessons offered at the local school where he studies. Kids like Weslei, although facing so many difficulties in their lives, still keep smiling and appreciating the small things in life....
