Remains of the Frenzy - a photo on Flickriver

            Though some birds are still participating, a massive feeding frenzy just off the beach had just occurred. On the beach are apparently-satiated Western, California and Heerman's Gulls, Brown Pelicans, and Elegant Terns (some of which are still feeding begging fledglings). Five minutes earlier tens of thousands of Black-vented Shearwaters were with these birds over and in the water feeding on a "bait ball" of small fish. See associated images.
