Fort Custer in the Fog

Fort Custer, late winter, more than a few years ago. Kim and I were out walking in the fog with the old SLRs I used in college, wrapped in plastic bags to keep them dry. That was a beautiful Michigan day! For you mountain bikers, this is the last pond on the Red Trail before getting back to the parking lot. I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my old tower and got my CanonScan FS4000 negative scanner going again. This is one of the first negatives I scanned on it. I am amazed at how much better Linux does with the same hardware vs XP. On XP this scanner would run the machine out of resources and consistently lock up the PC. With Ubuntu I can scan, listen to Pandora and surf Flickr, all at the same time. So, woo hoo! Yet another way for me to waste time! Explored on January 28th, 2009, #258
