2 Million Views - 16th August 2007 to 10th August 2012 (7,691 Photos)

I joined Flickr on around 26th October 2006 but I did not post any images until 16th August 2007 and as of today,10th August 2012 total views on my photostream ticked over the 2 Million mark.(Just under 6 years) (7,691 public images posted to date)
Recent average daily views seem to be running between 1,700 and 2,500 with some larger spikes in the graph occasionally. Due to the botanical name content of my photostream a significant component of that total daily visitation is coming from search engines, mainly Google. (average 25-50%)
The most recent daily hits in the graph above are down a little owing to the fact that the 2012 London Olympics have been running over the previous 2 weeks.
I am sure that this milestone can in no way be regarded as any kind of major achievement as many other Flickr people certainly would be achieving much greater exposure of their images with some no doubt adopting every strategy possible to increase exposure, and I see no problem with that unless the process is based around mindless content.
Other than by titling with detailed names,adding to groups and adding tags, I do not directly seek views on my images via the groups that insist on comment reciprocation. When I post to groups they are generally groups that do not impose numerical or other restrictions on posting as I usually do not have time to add to groups that individually limit how many images I post.
The Flickr tagging system is a marvellous tool and one which I have always recognised for its power to allow me to access my own images in many useful ways. Adding tags like the scientific name to images increases exposure of my images as the google and other search engine daily hits indicate.
Use of Flickriver, Fluidr and other apps like Dopiaza Set generator has allowed myself and others to isolate and view specific images based on various tags in a quick and easy manner, especially since the arrival of tablets like the iPad.
My 90 year old father loves nothing better than to flick through my images on his IPad using the specialised hyperlinks I have created on my profile. I have found that to be inspirational and it drives me to produce content that he may be interested in.
Up until recently the bulk of my Flickr photos has been of Australian Rainforest Plants, and I have let my interest in travel photography take a back seat however I am now beginning to add more travel photos.

Flickr for me is all about learning something new every day which I achieve by doing research on every image I post. I would never claim to be an expert on anything so I am always open to correction and always seek to acknowledge the work of others wherever possible in that research process.
It is encouraging to see that there are so many others out there on the net with a similar love of learning who seem to find my images one way or another on a daily basis.
Of course you don't get 2 million views without a loyal group of contacts so I sincerely thank you and all other regular visitors,for your interest in my images,
