Steadicam Merlin and D300s - a photo on Flickriver

            Latest addition to my videography addiction. Steadicam Merlin balanced and ready for a spin with the D300s, folded neatly into "travel mode" as the manual suggests. It took me nearly a full day to get the thing balanced and working, along with watching the tutorial DVD, reading the manual and finding out my own calibration data for balancing from scratch since D300s had no listing in the online Merlin Cookbook. One finish weight at the front, three mids plus one finish weight at the bottom, three to five turns at the gimbal guide, camera at position N and roughly around 0 on stage seems to pull the trigger with the Sigma 10-20 attached. Adding the Rode SVM top-heavy stereo microphone and finding balance with it was another story on its own... ;)
