Assynt - a photo on Flickriver

Assynt

            Now I don't think this is one of my greatest photos but I uploaded it because it makes me think. I took this from one of the summits of Quinag in Sutherland and, apart from the fact you can see Suilven (far left) the thing that inspired me to take this is that... there's a town out there. Out on the coast, roughly top dead centre, is Lochinver. Who decided to put a town there? Who built the road (which you can just see)? Suddenly you get a sense of how remote these communities are and that's why I love climbing up high and why you don't get the same feel for an area otherwise.
