Old Mailbox

            The man who lived here passed away many years ago.  The farm has been sold, but the new people put their mailbox on the other side of the driveway and left Chriss' there.  He was a cranky, dirty-minded old man, and not many people liked him.  I didn't like him at first, but over time became quite attached to him and was sorry when I heard he'd died.  Once you cut through his facade, he was very interesting to talk to.  I'd have to line him out from time to time on what was appropriate for him to talk to me about, but then he'd straighten right up, because he knew I wouldn't listen to his "crap" but would talk with him all day about most anything.  I miss seeing him and hope that other people seen under his rough exterior and didn't miss the diamond underneath.  This is for you, Chriss!
