Cambodia: Kampong Phluk - Photo #17 - a photo on Flickriver

            Resident ladies of the village of Kampong Phluk awaiting customers to take on a canoe ride through the local mangrove forest.......  A couple of things to note about these canoe rides.  First, only ladies are “pilots.”  I have no idea what that implies but in any case, of the 25 or so canoes we saw, there wasn’t a single canoe being piloted by a man.  Next, and although it is hard to tell from this particular photo, only two passengers are allowed per canoe.  Even so, there is little room to spare when two passengers are in the canoe.  Also note that there is at least one of the canoes that has a child in the prow with the pilot. And as with most of Kampong Phluk, shoes are not required of these ladies. Kampong Phluk is a village southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia, located on the fringes of Tonle Sap Lake.
