A more conventional closeup... - a photo on Flickriver

            Another shot of our friend the African Black Crowned-Crane (Balearica pavonina). He looked at me and checked out the lens. He was very interested in it when I changed the lens right in front of him. He bent down and pecked the glass at the just removed lens on the ground. (Thank goodness for that glass!) 

This same one was really interested in Johann, I think  it may have been the colors of his jacket and wrist warmers. One of the Keepers wandered by right as we were finishing up with these photos. She said this particular bird sometimes will do a courtship dance with the keepers.
