Brought this up from around Pine Island where we were doing a science dive. There was a fish fertilizer plant on the island until about 100 years ago. Around the turn of the 20th century the fertilizer plant was shut down and the island used for orchards. In WWII the coast guard used the island for dynamite detonation practice. There are literally dozens of these in the sub-tidal zone, along with a pretty good amount of coal. If anyone has any idea what it is, please let me know. It has several of us intrigued.
