Nikon D3 / 50mm ~ 1/20th * f/2 * ISO 3200 ~ B / FR I was inspired to start using the F100 again so I put the wide lens on to see how well it works on film (Velvia 100F roll just completed). I took the roll of film in for developing yesterday and should get the slides back Friday. As always with film, fingers crossed =). Taken on the D3 as I fiddled with the 'High ISO Noise Reduction' settings. I came to the conclusion that it's best left 'OFF' (was on 'Norm'). NR 'Off' the detail is much more clear and with hardly any increase of noise (see larger On Black or the comments for 100% crops). Being able to get images like this without a tripod or having to think about settings (using the awesome 'Auto ISO') is incredible! This was lit by a low level light, behind a paper lamp shade (to the naked eye I couldn't even see the text on the lens). I had always avoided the ISO setting like the plague on my last camera, the D2H is a beautiful camera but I came to realize early on that the ISO needed to stay locked at minimum (200) for good results. I never saw high ISO as an option before and no cameras I used since really convinced me otherwise either... until now. No offence to the F100 but ISO 3200 film could not give detail anywhere close to this! Got up to 74 in Explore (3rd Sept) - Wow... thanks =)
