Plaisance du Gers

            Plaisance (in occitano Plasença) è un comune francese di 1.479 abitanti situato nel dipartimento del Gers nella regione del Midi-Pirenei.

Chef lieu de canton de 1500 habitants, Plaisance est située à l'Ouest du département du Gers, sur la route de Bordeaux à Tarbes, aux confins des Landes, des Hautes Pyrénées et des Pyrénées Atlantiques. En plein pays Gascon, cette bastide cherche l’Adour en s’appuyant sur son affluant l’Arros et enjambe la "Gascogne bosselée".

L'église de Plaisance fût construite de 1854 à 1862, sous le vocable de l'Immaculée-Conception. Deux architectes diocésains, Barré puis Durand (architecte de la basilique de Lourdes) construisirent un vaste édifice composé d'une nef très éclairée, flanquée de beaux bas-côtés, l'ensemble voûté sur croisée d'ogives.
