Dwarf Cuckoo (Coccycua pumila) - a photo on Flickriver

            This is my first posting after being away from Flickr for several weeks. Due to some changes at our company it was necessary to dedicate 100% of my time to work without distractions.

I am posting this shot from January 1, 2008, because I haven’t been out shooting lately and it is one of my all-time favorites.  The Dwarf Cuckoo is seldom seen. Since photographing this bird in Montenegro, Colombia more than five years ago, despite returning many times to the same region of Colombia, I have never seen this bird again.

The Dwarf Cuckoo is native to forests of Colombia, Venezuela and northern Brazil. As compared to other cuckoos it is small in size, about 20 cm (8 inches) in length. Its tail is relatively shorter than other cuckoos.
