Apachetas - a photo on Flickriver

Apachetas

            Para muchos puede significar un montón de piedras apiladas, sin embargo para otros, tiene un significado más profundo.
Con el nombre de apacheta se designa a los montículos de piedra acumulados en lugares especiales, principalmente en las cumbres de los cerros, por los caminantes indígenas que transportaban cargas pesadas, a manera de ofrenda simbólica a sus divinidades para que estas los aliviaran de las fatigas  del cansancio de sus trajines (…) Se trataba de un significado bastante concreto, pero estrechamente ligado a un acto de profunda devoción trascendental (…) Las cumbres y los pasajes cordilleranos eran también objeto de veneración dentro de la religiosidad andina, los que a su vez eran motivo de manifestaciones votivas en los trajines de los viajeros abrumados por las cargas que llevaban.
