Sunset on Steens Mountain Loop - a photo on Flickriver

The 60-mile Steens Mountain Loop gravel road is the highest elevation road in Oregon. It circles Steens Mountain climbing on the southeastern side to within 300 feet of the 9,700+ foot peak.

The road was redone a couple of years ago and the full loop no longer requires high clearance vehicles. Weather permitting, standard passenger cars can travel the loop.
