T-Shaped Door

            T-shaped doors, such as this one located on the second floor of Pueblo Bonito, are one style of doorway in Chacoan architecture. Their design is believed to be symbolic rather than practical. Interestingly, these T-shaped doors are found in various structures as far south as Mexico. In Chacoan buildings they are often found along with balconies or kivas. Other T-shaped features exist in the form of altars, wall niches, pottery, carvings, pendants, petroglyphs and pictographs.
