Old Jetty, Port Willunga, South Australia

Port Willunga was the second busiest port in the colony of South Australia, exporting wheat and slate from the area.

The first jetty was built in 1853 at 52 metres. Though its placement was questioned, the jetty was extended to a length of 145 metres in 1857.

The few remaining piles are what's left of the longer jetty constructed in 1867 located 400 metres south of the first jetty. By the early 1870s the grain trade was depressed and the local flour mills had been closed by 1900. Slate continued to be exported for some time from the jetty. By the early 20th century the jetty was in disrepair.
