The Glow of the Forest Fire - a photo on Flickriver

            Mount Kobau, Osoyoos, British Columbia.

While I was attempting some night photography, I found that the Milky Way was obscured by a local forest fire near Mount Kobau in southern British Columbia. There are over 600 fires burning in BC right now. The fire was about 40 km away causing considerable smoke and haze. Nevertheless the time exposure shows the glow of the fire at night, which was barely visible to the naked eye. The sky was quite clear above the haze of the fire's smoke. Some of the noise is related to the high ISO which I tried to reduce in P/S. Photo taken at  1,873 metres (6,145 feet) elevation. Cold and windy up there in spite of a hot dry summer below.
