Death Valley's Fiery Furnace - a photo on Flickriver

            The desert landscapes are quite varied in Death Valley National Park and in some areas, they can change quite rapidly with the season. This area has many unique and fascinating patterns created by the mix of salt and mud. One autumn evening, the sunset grew fiery red and cast a warm glow across the salt flats.
