Museo de La Marina (Lisboa) - a photo on Flickriver

            El Museu de marinha (Museo de la Marina) es un museo marítimo en Lisboa, ocupa el ala oeste del Monasterio de los Jerónimos de Belém (junto con el Museo Nacional de Arqueología) así como un edificio anexo moderno construido al norte del monasterio.
Está emplazado en la capilla construida por Enrique el Navegante para los marinos que oían misa antes de partir hacia alta mar. La primera sala está dedicada a los descubrimientos que muestran la evolución de la ingeniería náutica desde el siglo XV. Luego hay varias miniaturas que ilustran el cambio desde las pequeñas barcas hasta las carabelas. O hasta el final, las nau portuguesas.
Además, tiene una completa colección de instrumentos de navegación, astrolabios y copias de mapas del siglo XVI. En otras salas se exhiben maquetas de naves modernas y en las estancias reales se puede admirar la cabina del yate real del rey Carlos y la reina Amélia, bautizado con el nombre del monarca.
La historia del museo está profundamente ligada al rey Luis I de Portugal (1838-1889), quien fue un entusiasta de los estudios oceanográficos así como un consumado navegante. En 1863 inició una colección de objetos relacionados con la conservación de la historia marítima de Portugal, colección que fue ampliada durante las siguientes décadas, lo que culminó en la inauguración del museo en 1963 en su actual emplazamiento.
