Shiny red Rouge Plant berries throw their shadows on leaves

For years I pulled this plant out of my yard as a fast growing weed! But recently I discovered it growing in the wild and feel in love with it. Its rosy beauty. Its delicacy. And learned its name... Rouge Plant.

A Native Florida shrub it grows to near 6 feet, with only the base becoming woody. The leaves are alternate with distinctly wavy margins. It grows inconspicuously till it produces wonderful clusters of pinkish-white flowers which bloom throughout the year And are followed by brilliant bright red berries.

It is self seeding but is not aggressive. Easy to remove if you choose. No nasty roots to fight. It
Grows in sun or shade, woods or hammocks.
