Camelia - a photo on Flickriver

Camelia

            Per venticinque giorni del mese le camelie erano bianche, e per cinque erano rosse; non si è mai conosciuta la ragione di questo cambiamento di colore, che io racconto senza saperlo spiegare, e che era stato notato anche dai suoi amici e dai frequentatori abituali dei teatri dove si recava più spesso. Marguerite non era mai stata vista con altri fiori che camelie, tanto che dalla sua fioraia, madame Barjou, avevano finito col chiamarla "La signora dalle camelie", e il soprannome le era rimasto.
