            Clematis  is a genus of mostly vigorous climbing lianas, with attractive flowers.
Clematis are probably the most popular type of climbing plants, thanks to their beautiful flowers and ease of cultivation. The wide variety of clematis available means you can enjoy their colourful display throughout the year. 

La vera caratteristica comune a tutte le Clematis è l'enorme profusione di fiori, che hanno una particolarità piuttosto affascinante per i botanici: quelli che attraggono i nostri occhi, così come quelli degli insetti, non sono i petali, bensì sepali. I sepali delle clematidi, infatti, invece di essere le 'classiche' foglie modificate di colore verde a formare il calice, assumono le colorazioni e le forme più svariate. Clematis deriva dal greco klema che significa "viticcio". Proprio come un viticcio, il picciolo delle loro foglie subisce modificazioni tali da avvolgersi al supporto che gli viene fornito, per rimanerci ben saldo.
