"Ostheim vor der Rhön" - a photo on Flickriver

            The fortified church of Ostheim vor der Rhön, the church is dedicated to the St. Michael. 
The church and fortifications were build around 1400; there are 4 towers and a double wall. The church and walls provided a refuge for people. The 72 cellars are still used to store fruit and potatoes today.

Die Kirchenburg oder Wehrkirche von Ostheim vor der Rhön, die Kirche ist dem hl. Michael geweiht. Die Kirche und Befestigung wurde um 1400 gebaut; es hat 4 Türme und eine doppelte Mauer. Die Kirche und die Festung war zum Schutz der Bevölkerung. In den 72 Steingaden (Kellern) werden heute noch Obst und Kartoffeln aufbewahrt.
