Dodder, parasite, parasitic plant - a photo on Flickriver

The yellow threads are Cuscuta, or dodder. This is a parasitic plant, lacking chlorophyll, which gets its nutrition by putting its roots into other plants. That makes it a parasite, an organism that depends on another organism for its energy.
