Votive Kore (Statue of a Young Woman) from the Athenian Acropolis Greek 520-510 BCE Parian Marble

This kore, who probably held an offering in her right hand, stood on the Athenian Acropolis in a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. The original colors can still be seen in several areas, including her brown hair and blue and red garments. Her diadem probably was adorned with rays of gilded bronze : a way of preventing birds from perching on the statue's head. Part of the permanent collections of the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece.
