Machairophyllum by candlelight - a photo on Flickriver

            This is a self directed photo assignment:   Shoot a photo in daylight, but emulate candlelight.  Here is the result.  

During the shoot, I blocked direct sun from hitting the subject. I took one of the better shots, which unfortunately  had poor focus (see photo below).  Working in Photoshop, I adjusted the exposure and contrast and used selective color adjustment to shift soft yellow tones to a warm orange. I burned out highlights in the background and further darkened it. Removed imperfections with the clone tool, then applied a sharpening filter to the image; further sharpened the center with a brush. 

While I'm not thrilled with the result, it does resemble other photos I have taken by candlelight.
