Alexamenos Worships his God - a photo on Flickriver

            An interesting anti-Christian graffito from the Palatine museum in Rome.  The text reads in Greek: ALEXAMENOS SEBETE THEON, which should mean ALEXAMENOS. WORSHIP GOD (imperative mood and a command). Scholars usually assume that the verb is misspelling of SEBETAI, which would give the meaning ALEXAMENOS WORSHIPS HIS GOD.
