Fend Flitzer with Inflatable Dome - a photo on Flickriver

            The inflatable dome of the Fend seemed like a good idea because of low cost, low weight, and good visibility, but at speed it tended to flatten out and rest on the driver’s head. The idea was quickly discarded again, although it was tried (and rejected) again for a Porsche356 in the late 1950s.
