A big fish - a photo on Flickriver

A big fish

            The baby loom is mow 17 weeks old. He does not fish on his own and did not start flight practice yet. His father loon left already to go south and its only him and Mom on the lake now. This is the largest fish he had so far. The mother loon caught it and placed in front of him. It still took him several minutes to position it in a way that hi could gulp it. Other baby loons by this time catch their own meals and start, or already flying. I hope he starts soon to be able to fly before the lake freeze. Loon parents are known to leave the young ones alone and fly south before they can fly
