COPAN MAYAN HOWLER MONKEY GOD at the top of the COPAN REVIEWING STAND OF THE WEST COURT on the south side of COPAN TEMPLE 11 at the Copán Mayan Ruins in northern Honduras.

Crouched at the top of the north (left) and south (right) ends of the Reviewing Stand Stairway (which bears Mayan hieroglyphs) are two Mayan Howler Monkey Gods carved in stone. The north (left end of the Reviewing Stand) Howler Monkey God is shown in this 1984 frontal view photo and he is holding an IK Wind Glyph Rattle in his left hand as a Snake crawls out of the left side of his mouth.

An amazing reptilian is seen extending leftward from the waist of this Howler Monkey God. This Mayan reptile bears huge fangs and a very long tongue. Mayan Glyphs are carved on the stones forming the top stair of the Reviewing Stand.
