Shapa - a photo on Flickriver

Lighting Information:

Our go to guy for hair and make up, Tim, wanted some hair shots for a competition he is entering. I was happy to help out and we had a photo shoot on Friday night after work. He came along with his friend Shapa to do the modelling and after dinner we took the shots. In between the competition pictures, I grabbed the chance to take a few portraits and Keoula got Shapa to try on a some of her gowns so we could get a couple of web site shots as well.

We had lights everywhere, but for this picture, I used my DIY 50" soft box as the main light and an SB-28 up high and aimed down at Shapa's hair on the right. I also had a second SB-28 behind her pointing towards the back of her head to light her hair from behind. There was a final SB-28 with a blue gel lighting the background.

We ended up with about twenty good shots which we narrowed down to two for the final competition pictures. I was looking through the shots that were left in Lightroom and just tried converting this one to black and white. I really liked the result so this is the one that made it to Flickr! :)

A Greasemonkey script that adds Flickriver links to various Flickr photo pages - user photos, favorites, pools etc, allowing to quickly open the corresponding Flickriver view.

Also, allows quickly viewing any Flickr photo on black background in large size.
