When I was a kid, our family used to take road trips quite often, either for vacation, or to go back to Ohio & Kentucky to visit family from where ever the Army had my father stationed at the time.

One time when I was quite small, we stopped at an old Stuckey's shop along the highway somewhere, I have no recollection of the location anymore, but while walking around inside with my mother, I became enchanted with the big rack of "place" stickers they sold back them to let people know where you'd been. For some reason, I picked one out and decided I wanted it, and took it over to Mom to ask if I could have it. She said no, but I continued to badger her over it for a while, but after it appeared that she wouldn't budge, I forgot about it.

Anyway, a few minutes later, after my mom bought her peanut brittle or whatever it was she was getting, we stepped out of the store into the little entry foyer, and as we did, the most startling of alarm bells started ringing! Completely confused, Mom and I stopped, looked around, looked at each other...and then looked down at my hand. Of course, I had forgotten all about putting the sticker back that I had wanted, and was still mindlessly walking around with it in my hand. Evidently the security personnel had 'caught' me, and set off the alarm!

Well, long story short, the manager came out into the foyer, mom explained what happened, and he was extremely nice about it...he even let me keep the sticker!

Anyway, the point is...this is an old Stuckey's. I've already had a fond place in my heart for them. I only know of one Stuckey's still open and operating in Texas. It's up in the panhandle, near the Texas/New Mexico border in a little town called Adrian. At least it was open back in November '07 when I was there.
