It's all about meme

Er, well, I've been tagged by Mouse Loves Purple so I'm posting a self portrait (is it a self portrait if someone else took it??) ('cause I'm not too excited about putting up anything newer than say, 20 years ago!). And I'm listing 16 things about myself for your entertainment, astonishment, or, possibly, terminal boredom. Here goes:

1. I was once, very briefly, an anthropologist until I realized that wasn't a brilliant career choice for an avowed introvert with a horror of being intrusive.

2. Now I make my living reading lurid diaries and dead people's mail. I'm still invading people's privacy but now they've been gone too long to care :)

3. I've been to Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat, Dime Box and War. I love towns with odd names.

4. My late husband, an airman, proposed to me with these words, "Marry me and I'll show you the world." I replied, "Okay, but don't take me to Alaska because I hate being cold." Just for your information, here in interior Alaska it's currently 38 below zero.

5. I've driven the Alaska Highway, all by myself, five times.

6. I have experience inoculating oranges.

7. My first paid job was spending an interminable evening inventorying cosmetics at Macy's.

8. On a road trip from South Dakota to Colorado, I got lost and ended up in Nebraska.

9. Both of my thumbs are double jointed.

10. I know what kiln furniture is and how to use it.

11. My music collection includes performances by Vladimir Horowitz, the Sons of the Pioneers, Elton John and Kermit the Frog.

12. I can't see the eye chart without my glasses, but I can count fingers at 6 feet.

13. If there's reincarnation, I want to come back as a dolphin.

14. I can read a sphygmomanometer, measure your depth of field and irrigate a surgical site.

15. I never, ever go anywhere without a book.

16. I wasn't always the irritable geezerette I am today (see above photo for documentation of this preposterous fact).

Lucky for me I already listed 10 of these things on my blog, so I had a head start :) Here is where I'm supposed to tag 16 other people, but I can't afford to alienate 16 people, so all I'm sayin' is if you're reading this and you're so inclined - Tag!
