BDOS072407_0003 The Mutual Building Lower Broad Street, Bridgetown St. Michael, Barbados Series: Bridgetown End To End (07-24-2007) Secondary school in Barbados was a good experience for me. And although I did not have to use the Lower Green Bus Stand to catch my bus to go home on evenings, I still found myself standing in front of this massive building courting a young lady whose bus stopped here. It has been years now and I have lost contact with the young lady, but The Mutual Building in lower Broad Street is still here. This magnificent Victorian that boasts 3 stories was built between 1894 and 1895. The original name was The Barbados Insurance Society Building. Large domes and a second story veranda that surrounds the entire building are some of the buildings’ characteristics. This wonderful old structure once housed The Mutual Bank of the Caribbean. It was sold to the Bank of Butterfield in December 2003 and is still located within The Mutual Building. I am not certain what percentage of the entire building is used by the bank, but there are also other financial and business offices located inside. You can still find lots of hawkers outside the building selling, just like when I was a kid. In this respect nothing has changed, just different faces. View the entire set. View as slideshow. View on Flickriver. Also, take a look at my exclusive blog on Barbados.

Flickriver is a web-based image viewer that provides a new way to explore and view Flickr photos.
It's a personal project of Alex Sirota (aka iosart).
Flickriver enhances your photo browsing experience in several ways:
Answer: Flickriver is simply an alternative Flickr viewer, and as such it displays all public Flickr photos using the official Flickr API - similarly to hundreds of other alternative Flickr viewers and tools. Flickriver doesn't host any photos and doesn't reference any photos specifically - it is merely a viewer that reflects whatever Flickr provides it when you ask it to.
Flickr have specific guidelines for viewers such as Flickriver and other applications that use their API - for example, once a viewer displays a public Flickr photo, the photo must link back to its original Flickr page - so there can be no misunderstanding about the image origin, author or copyright. As you can see, Flickriver is absolutely compliant with this guideline. You can read the official Flickr FAQ about this here and here.
Flickr allows you to opt out from third party services having access to your photos using Flickr API. You can opt out on this page by selecting both:
Note: Flickriver uses the Flickr API but is not endorsed or certified by Flickr.
Use Flickriver Badge Creator to create a badge linking to your photos, your group or any other Flickriver view.
You can place your badge on your Flickr profile, Blog or Website.
